The under graduate level food science (B.Sc. Food Science) courses provide basic knowledge including food technology, materials, microbial physiology, nutritional regulation, preservation, immunology, etc. Subjects include Basic nutrition, Food Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Microbiology, Grain Science and Technology, Fruit Science, Dairy Technology and Food engineering, etc.

Milk products companies, food processing companies, product development, logistics, research labs and academic are some specific fields for this course as employment area. Some institutes/universities provide B. Tech. courses in food science and technology.
The subjects covered by this courses are biochemistry, microbiology, chemistry, nutrition, dairy science etc. The course duration is four years with eight semesters.
The job areas are Food industries, FMCG, Dairy industries, biotech companies and academics etc. The job types are analytical scientist (food science), food technologist, sales manager, quality control, academician, dietician and nutritionist, etc.
The jobs and job areas are depending on the requirements and the knowledge of the candidates. But one thing is important here that if we have the interest to build the career in food science then the above options are the suitable courses and jobs for us.
Future studies include masters of the above courses and doctorates too. These courses are also having chances for abroad studies.
