Well! Biotechnology has huge scope both in India as well as abroad. Technology is developing at a very rapid pace and at the same pace its scope. All you need is full dedication and selecting your way very wisely.

Now let us discuss in brief about several new courses introduced that you can opt for after completion of B.Sc. biotechnology.

MBA in Biotechnology

This is a very good option but if you are interested in business, marketing and management then. This is a full 2 years program which is provided by different institutes under different universities.

Clinical research/Regulatory affairs

Clinical research has now-a-days very good opportunities in several hospitals, research labs and clinical research organization. So, after B.Sc. biotechnology you can pursue M.Sc. or PG diploma in clinical research. Its work mainly involves testing of the safety and efficiency of newly invented drug products before they are released for marketing. Some other knowledge that you get while doing clinical research are,

  • Drug molecule invention
  • Getting approval for molecule and conduct trial
  • Study of toxicity
  • Animal trials
  • Bioinformatics

It is the study of creating various software tools for understanding the biological data. It involves subjects like biology, computer science, engineering, and maths. Several databases are also used like EMDL, UniProtNCBI and KEGG. With learning to use these databases, you can make an easy matching of DNA, the 3D structure of drug/protein molecule. You will get a job in research institutes, Pharma companies or any sectors where drug designing, molecular docking etc takes place.

PG Diploma in Medical Lab Technology

This is yet another good option completing which you will get various opportunities starting from local lab to hospitals. But getting promotions you need to have some years of experience. It is better to do this course in any Government Institute. The duration of this course is one and a half years which includes internship also.

Then some other courses are,

  • Masters degree in biomedical engineering
  • Masters degree in bioanalytical sciences
  • Master degree in medical biotechnology
  • M.Sc. Biophysics
  • M.Sc. Life science

So, these are some career as well as job opportunities after completing B.Sc. in biotechnology. But you have to be very careful while choosing your options because lack of awareness can land you in some wrong course. Collect as much information you can before choosing your course.

You cannot achieve success through shortcuts!
