Laboratory manager

The job profile of a laboratory manager is the maintenance of lab equipment by the establishment of quality standards, creation of operations, troubleshooting process, and quality.

They have to make sure about staff compliance, certify the instrument performance, and arrange for equipment replacement, repair, and service.

A lab manager also records equipment supplies inventory, checks and determines inventory level, places an order for supplies, and verifies the receipt of supplies while coordinating with the purchasing department.

Some government sector organizations that hire lab managers are THSTI, CDSCA – THSTI, all research labs operating under CSIR. Candidates with a master’s degree in life science or biotech and candidates with a bachelor’s degree with some experience are mainly considered for this position.

Application scientist

An application scientist is responsible for creating SOPS, training the technical staff, and managing them for effective delivery of the technical services. They also carry out some method development and help the user with all kinds of data acquisition and interpretation. Offer teaching helps to students and trainees wherever necessary.

Some of the government organizations that hire application scientists are all ICMR and CSIR institutes, IBAB, THSTI – CDSA, Regional center for biotechnology, and DBT are among the top hiring government organizations for this post.

Candidates having a master’s degree in Life Science are preferred for this post, but candidates with 3-5 years of experience are mainly preferred.
