Turkish chemist makes advance against brain cancer

A Nobel Prize-winning Turkish-American chemist recently discovered an unique chemical molecule to treat brain cancer.

Aziz Sancar, whose research was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences on Tuesday, said EdU molecule most commonly used in molecular biology since 2008

As per the reports, he told, "We have done all the checks and have proven that it is certain,".

He also clarified "Most drugs cannot cross from the blood to the brain. For example, the  drug called cisplatin, which is used in the treatment of cancer  patients, cannot cross through this barrier, so brain cancers cannot be  treated with it. This EdU gets in easily (into the brain) with no  problem,"

Aziz Sancar, along with Tomas Lindahl and Paul Modrich, received Nobel Prize in Chemistry in the year 2015  for their work on DNA repair.
