Preparation of vanishing cream

BACKGROUND

It is also known as foundation cream which are apply to skin to provide a smooth emollient base before the application of face powder and other face make-up. The cream helps the powder to adher to the skin and also acts as skin protectant which prevents damaging effect caused by environmental factors.these are generally partian saponification of stearic acid with alkyl media.1

Aim: To prepare and submit 20gm of vanishing cream.

REQUIREMENTS

Chemicals:

Stearic acid,

Cityl alcohol,

Methey Paraber,

Potassium hydroxide,

Perfume.

Apparatus:

Beaker (100ml),

Measuring Cylinder (100ml),

Glass rod,

Thermometer,

Water bath.

PROCEDURE

Mult stearic and Cityl alcohol at 75°c in a beaker (Phase A or aily Phase). In another beaker potassium hydroxide is dissolved in purified water at 75°c and preservative was added (Phase B or Aqueous Phase). Mix both the solution by adding phase B to phase A with continuous stirring till a cream like consistancy is abtained. Finally it was packed, labelled, and submitted.

Store in a cool dry place.
