PROCEDURE

Chemical test

  1. When the drug is triturated with water, a yellowish orange emulsion is produced.
  2. 0.5 gram of drug sample is boiled with 5ml of HCl for few minutes. Then sample is subjected for filtration. Ammonia is added to the collected filtrate, which will show blue colour fluorescence.
  3. Green colour is produced by adding 50% HNO3 to the fractured surface.
  4. When one drop of H2SO4 is added to the fractured surface of the drug sample it will show red colour. Further the red colour sample is converted in to violet colour on washing with water.2
