How long does it take to become a genetic counselor?
To be a genetic counselor is not an easy task. You will need a bachelor’s degree in a science field such as biology or genetics and a master’s degree in genetics or genetic counseling from a recognized graduate program.
Bachelor’s degree takes four years to complete, and a master’s degree takes extra two years. To sum up, you need a total of six years of formal education to be a genetic counselor.
